Sri Lanka and West Indies enters semi finals

With only 2 matches left to decide the fate of the teams in Group 2 of the super eights. Things seen to be pretty decent in the first group as the first 2 teams have qualified for the semi finals. Sri Lanka and West Indies are the 2 teams from Group 1 who have qualified for the semis after beating England and New Zealand respectively. The match between West Indies and New Zealand was decided on a super over after the 2 teams were inseparable after 40 overs. With the win it meant that England had to win against Sri Lanka with a considerably good run rate that would take them over West Indies but that did not happen as they lost to Sri Lanka by 19 runs.

In Group 2, things are evenly poised till now and it all depends on the final day of the super eights. A lot of permutation and combination have already been done as to what would require for each team to qualify for the semi final and it is getting very complicated. Australia has a good chance of progressing from this group because of the superior run rate. The main confusion lies among the three teams India, South Africa and Pakistan because it can go anywhere in the last matches. With all the three teams looking at their individual run rate things will heat up as the teams go on to play their last match of the super eights.
